Wed 24 June five of us had great fun practising willow weaving under the knowledgable supervision and instruction of one of our members in her garden. It was lovely to sit there after such a hot day.
This was such an unusual and enjoyable meeting.
Our host grows willow grass and sea grass in their Costwolds family home. She provided different size of grasses, which she kept in wet sheets to make them bend easily. She had prepared and provided the equipment including secateurs.
We had perfect weather for it and everyone managed to achieve something. We made animal figures woven round rods on a base support. If there’s ever a next time we‘d make sure the willow rods are super thin and bendy. The host later made some plant supports and stars from the thicker rods we didn‘t use.
