Members of the Yealm Group visited St. Raphael’s in the hamlet of Huccaby near Hexworthy on Dartmoor for their February meeting.
In Victorian times, the very small church doubled as a classroom by converting the pews to desks with bench seats during the week.
We looked around the church and studied the artefacts associated with the classroom then walked in the church garden which was a carpet of snowdrops. Some of us later enjoyed a pub lunch followed by a short walk.
