All about outfits

The Welwyn NWR group met for the second time on 9 August at the Rose and Crown pub in Welwyn Village on a warm summer’s evening, it was great to see some new faces. The topic of discussion this month was ‘My favourite outfit: it could be from the past, one of your own, an outfit worn by someone famous or a historical outfit’.

We admired the glamour of 1920s dresses, the elegance of the Queen, members spoke about their favourite designers – Ann Balon and Mary Quant. Favourite outfits included hotpants, jodpurs and a little black and white dress with white boots.

The conversation then turned to the kit of the women’s England football team and we discussed what it will take to ensure that their recent victory has a lasting legacy.

And finally, we all smiled when one member recalled the scene in the film Grease when Sandy is transformed to her new look and then discussed various strategies for how to put those trousers on.

Then followed plenty of opportunity to chat and get to know one another. We look forward to meeting up again next month and hopefully seeing some new faces.
