Members from both Leighton Buzzard1 and Crewe groups met on 17 April to see A Thousand Splendid Suns at the wonderful Birmingham Rep. It was a mesmerising production from a superb ensemble cast. It was incredibly moving and reflected the original novel well. We had a good lunch at Comptois Libanaise in the New Street station shopping centre where we caught up with each other’s news prior to the performance.
We were pleased that the centre of Birmingham wasn’t full of black sacks of rubbish, although there was more litter than usual. Maybe the litter pickers had been diverted to help with more serious issues.
It was a long and enjoyable day.
