Ten of us braved the long coach journey to Kew Gardens to see the wonderful lights on 15 December. It was worth every minute to spend two hours strolling around the gardens. I know them well, as I used to live nearby, but I lost my bearings in the dark. I have seen similar shows in recent years, but none surpassed this spectacle of moving and static lights and wonderful installations such as the beautifully coloured water from a lake that streamed upwards, seemingly dancing to the accompanying music. There was an old-fashioned fairground with a helter-skelter, swing boats and a carousel. Although the gardens were very busy, especially with families with young children, there were very few queues at Kew! We all had a great time, and I can’t wait for next year.
