Christmas Zoom Meeting on 8 Dec 21

[Kindly supplied by Dilys.]

We had a lovely evening

Ann read Scrooges change of character to a benevolent boss. I almost wept!

Jane read T S Eliot’s Journey of the Maji. A thought provoking poem.

Betty chose “The night before Christmas” and gave us a great explanation of the poems origins.

I read ” King John’s Christmas” from A A Milne’s “Now We Are Six” I’m always relieved that poor Jack gets his big, red, india rubber ball!!!

Jenny found a reading in” A Lancashire Christmas” describing Christmas in a 1915 Mill Town. The reading led us into a discussion about how our ideas and expectations of and for Christmas have changed over time.

Then, a holiday was counted as one day off, Christmas Day, back to work at 6am on Boxing day for most.
