Summer in the Caribbean?
We combined our celebration of all things Caribbean with our AGM recently and the evening got off to the best start with Mount Gaye Barbados spiced rum and tropical fruit punch to the background music from steel drums. We all prepared dishes from the region ranging from jerk chicken, rice with peas and baked aubergine with sweet potatoes. Desserts included rum cake, spiced pineapple, coconut cake and coconut ice cream – absolutely delicious! Naturally we left no stone unturned and dressed the part too.
Our finale to the evening was a 13 nation mix and match quiz – did you know that the capital of Dominica is Roseau and this tiny island of only 751sq. km was the last to be colonised by Western settlers due to particularly fierce resistance from its native population? (Well, you probably do if you’ve already done your Caribbean themed meeting!)
