This was our second narrowboat adventure along the canal and both times we were fortunate to have good weather. The plan this time was to go in the Bath direction but because of the very low water due to the Crofton Beam engine pump being out of action we had to head east towards Reading.
The boat is moored at Great Bedwyn so we went downhill through four locks, turned the boat around, moored up and had lunch on the bank. After lunch we returned back uphill to the mooring.
We are only a small group and not everyone wanted to come so as last time we invited our other halves. The boat was chartered with a professional skipper Julie who we met before on our last canal trip with the condition that we help out with the mooring and work the locks. So I managed the bow line and the rest of the crew as you can see from the photos did a sterling job working the locks.
