The Reader Organisation

Eleven of us heard one member recounting her work with The Reader Organisation, a national charity that uses the power of literature and reading aloud to transform lives.

“From our global Shared Reading movement and social enterprises, through to the events and activities on offer at our Calderstones Park home – our work improves wellbeing, reduces loneliness and helps us find new meaning in our lives. ” says its website

There is a whole series of books, A Little Aloud, on various themes and our host had selected a chapter from one for us to read aloud and discuss. We all participated, being bookworms and having had the great fortune of the pleasure and solace of reading all our lives.

The host produced a delicious homemade (non-alcoholic ) punch to go with mince pies to round off another great evening.
