Last week members held a ‘Room 101’ meeting to discuss our pet and larger peeves. Although small in number (combination of holidays and sickness) the discussion was wide ranging, entertaining and included:
- Road side shrines
- Feeding pigeons (rats with wings)- disease risks
- The Slosh ( or rather being forced by other women into doing this dance) I think one member could still be raving about this ………
- Being served lukewarm coffee and cold toast at breakfast in hotels
- School HMI Inspections – are they a true reflection of a teacher?
- Humane culling of Grey Squirrels ( rats with wings) – to help conserve the countryside and save our native Reds
- Overuse of certain words “perfect”, “like” and starting sentences with “So”
- Bad Grammar – “I seen/ I done” – “should of/should have”, “yous” (this topic really got us going).
- Suggested misuse of BBC Licence fees to send their News Anchors to major events when they already have a reporter based there ( e.g. Clive Myrie going to LA to cover the recent fires.
Everyone agreed it was very therapeutic getting these irksome things off our chests. We may well repeat it in a future programme.
