Yabba dabba do. Cartoon fun in Horsham

We heard about the history of cartoons and marvelled at the ingenious development of how characters moved with some interesting details on the Flintstones where only the heads moved. Listening to the theme tune brought back happy memories. We reflected on past childhood experiences of watching Felix the cat on an old cine projector and shared one members favourite book on the character Eloise who lived in the Plaza hotel New York. Every member seemed to arrive with a bag of books on Dr Seuss; Asterix; Calvin and Hobbes, a toy Snoopy and even a homemade Minion .

We discussed the careers and success of various artists and agreed that cartoons should be recognised as an art form. Several members said they enjoyed the daily social/political quips of Matt Pritchett and Peter Brookes who regularly have to meet a print deadline and to provide funny quirky cartoons on the latest news.

The biggest surprise of the evening was to discover that a members husband was/is a cartoonist of family events. Here is an excellent cartoon of Mika Hakkinen. If you look closely you will see some humorous features!
