Mary Stott Award 2024 comes to Scotland (again)

Each Mary Stott Award recipient is presented with a commemorative Scottish Quaich, a cup of friendship, which she holds for one year. In addition, the award winner receives a national conference place and accommodation for one night.
Kilbarchan Group were pleased but not surprised to learn that this year’s winner of the Mary Stott Award is none other than our current LO – Susan Baird. We are so delighted for Susan as she is a very worthy winner. We understand that she scored highly on the entry criteria. The judging panel were particularly impressed with her ‘walking for health’ initiative and also her support and encouragement of more hard-of-hearing awareness.

Susan was attending a family wedding in Scotland on the day of the conference so was not able to attend the conference to receive the award in person. However, a previous (and well deserved) winner of the Mary Stott Award – our former LO – Fiona Catterson came to the rescue. Fiona was able to attend the conference on as she was visiting family within a short drive of Sheffield. She was delighted to receive the award on Susan’s behalf.
On a sunny autumnal morning a few days after the conference, prior to setting off on one of our many walks, Fiona presented Susan with the Quaich which will be engraved with her name that will sit alongside Fiona’s. Susan will keep the Quaich for one year before handing it back for the next recipient. How absolutely fantastic that two members from Kilbarchan group will feature on NWR’s friendship Quaich.
