On ‘World Meteorological Day’ we’ll discuss all things Weather, including how climate is changing globally, the effects this has, and what we can do to mitigate changes.
In light of the dire political scenario just now though, we will make this serious subject a bit lighter than originally intended.
We will discuss climate change, but also broaden it to include anything about Weather.
It features in so many British conversations!
“According to recent research (actually 2010), 94% of British respondents admitted to having conversed about the weather in the past six hours, while 38% say they have in the past 60 minutes. This means at almost any moment in this country, at least a third of the population is either talking about the weather, has already done so or is about to do so”
Maybe have a look at something about:
Forecasting, old wives tales & traditions, a piece of music, poem, a film, novel, personal experiences. Where do seasons start and finish, coldest, hottest, wettest, driest, where do some of our favourite sayings come from? Terminology? What actually is ‘weather’ anyway?
How about the science? Water processing? Alternative energy?
Hosted by Carole, starting at 7.30pm.
[Let me know if there is something specific you wish to talk about]
