One of our members keeps bees, and kindly invited us to her home to learn how to make decorative items out of wax harvested from her hives. We planned the date well in advance, to enable us to collect and press flowers and leaves from our gardens to decorate the bowls.
The molten wax was bubbling nicely as we filled balloons with water then dipped them into the wax to create our bowls. Once we had a bowl, we decorated them with flowers and leaves, then dipped them once again to seal the designs.
We all had a great evening, with much laughter over our attempts to fix the decorations to the bowls (I’m holding my hand up here to having a lack of artistic talent!) We were all very pleased with the finished articles, as shown in the photographs.
