Our walking group

Around Abingdon

Part of our walk took us past the ruins of Abingdon Abbey, once possibly the 6th largest abbey in the country and through the Abbey Gardens with its colourful flowerbeds Then following a winding footpath, we arrived at Abingdon Weir, the noise  and force of its rushing water were quite mesmerising.  From the lock keeper’s house we reached the towpath and walked beside numerous narrow boats and smaller craft to Abingdon Bridge, finally stopping at Annie’s Cafe for refreshment.
