Those Daring Young Men (and Wonderful) Women on the Flying Trapeze
Seven of our group went to the Royal Albert Hall yesterday to see Cirque du Soleil. We had different reasons – some had never seen them, others had and wanted to see them again, and some didn’t know the Royal Albert Hall well, or at all, and wanted to experience it.
The show was non-stop action expressed with grace, strength and style. We saw acrobats, fire jugglers, singers, clowns and the most fearless and audacious trapeze work which all depended on split second timing. The trapeze section of the show was the most spellbinding of the afternoon and it drew gasps from the appreciative audience. Personally, I don’t like clowns, but clearly many did as there was a lot of laughter to be heard around us.
A bonus of our coach trip was that we arrived early enough to take a decent walk in Kensington Gardens in the beautiful sunshine. We walked towards Bayswater, via the Serpentine Gallery and saw the Italian fountains and the Peter Pan statue. I’m sure Peter would love to have joined in the trapeze act: it would have been an awfully big adventure.
