Wokingham 3 group have a wide range of interests and are always pleased to meet new people. We meet once every three weeks usually in the evenings but are trialling daytime meetings at the moment. We meet Monday through to Thursday to allow those with regular commitments to attend as many meetings as possible. We plan all our meetings six months in advance – we usually have too many suggestions / not enough meetings – maybe we should meet more often? The programmes aim to reflect our varied interests and exercise our lively minds.
Main meetings often involve research around a chosen topic which we tend to approach from completely different angles depending on our own experience and interests. We aim to send a summary of the meetings afterwards by email for those who weren’t able to attend. Extra activities include an evening book group which meets once a month, fortnightly walks, regular visits to exhibitions and places of interest and a coffee morning which gives us a chance to catch up with old and new friends. Other meetings and visits are arranged by members on an ad hoc basis – particularly when we can’t fit everything into the regular programme. Our Christmas Party is always popular, with mulled wine, food, games and a quiz or two.
All members are encouraged to participate in running the group, taking turns as Local Organiser, or as organiser of one of the extra groups or one of our visits. Since Covid members agree not to attend if they are unwell or have been in contact with someone who is unwell.
