Our host presented diamonds to us, in honour of NWR Diamond anniversary.
Others covered pearl, moonstone, alexandrite, lapis lazuli, turquoise, ruby and tanzanite.
We touched on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, the cardinal gems (diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, amethyst), the 4 C’s of precious gems (clarity, colour, cut, carat), conflict minerals, and we asked “where do we get the idea that rocks affect behaviour?”.
As usual it was varied and interesting and each of us had a different angle which added to the overall enjoyment.
